That's what social media feels like when everybody is asking for attention. Yes, the audience is huge and yes, it can be very effective, but you need to actually come through. Because you are not only competing with your industry, you are also competing with friends, drama and worst of all: cat videos.
Embrace position
Your boss will not be happy to hear this, but -among all these sources of dopamine, your post is just an interruption. Nobody opens the app to see brand content. The goal is not to be no interruption, it is to be a welcomed one.
That's where most content fails. Not because it looks bad, not because it has no reason to exist and not because the algorithm doesn't like you. "We need to be more active" sounds like a strategy, but it will only get you so far. A visual might buy you a second, a good catchphrase one more and a fun concept the third one. Three seconds to hook the viewer, that's a common rule of thumb. Otherwise, you will get skipped, without a thought, and without resurfacing.
Approach
Social media is not a checklist. You can't separate strategy, design, text and ads like they don't affect each other. They are connected and need to be treated as a whole system, from idea to exectution. So I create cohesive and coherent entities before testing and modifying them part by part. Because results will come from persistence and adaptability. Different hooks, different visuals, different angles – keeping what works and changing what doesn't. Social media is vastly complex. What works today might fail tomorrow and what flopped now might be on small tweak away from striving.
In the end, there is no true formula for guaranteed succes, but there is a very reliable way to fail: overthinking strategy. Sometimes you just have to try over and over again before you create something worth stopping for.
